Oil production from waste polyethylene and polystyrene co-pyrolysis: Interactions of temperature and carrier gas flow rate

This study investigated the co-pyrolysis of waste polyethylene (WPE) and polystyrene (WPS) for oil production under different operating conditions (temperature carrier gas flow rate). The ratio real-life WPE WPS is in regions. Therefore, interactions were WPE/WPS mixture compositions. A hybrid model artificial neural network-genetic algorithm (ANN-GA) was adopted to predict optimize yield due complex composition conditions. Consequently, highest 82.33 wt% 525°C, 10 PS, a non-sweeping atmosphere (0 mL/min). results indicated that high temperature, low PS mass fraction, rate led higher yield. oils composed alkanes, alkenes, aromatics. Meanwhile, styrene accounted proportion aromatics oils. ANN-GA also components fractions. revealed conducive light production. findings could guide industrial process plastic pyrolysis Moreover, coupled with central-composite design can be used regulate target products more its good robustness.
